"Were You There?"

"Where You There...When They Crucified My Lord?"
That was one of the hymns requested today by J.R. ...

That song, along with "I Love To Tell the Story", "When I Survey the Wonder of the Cross", "Old Rugged Cross" and a few others were great to reflect on Christ and what was done at the cross.

Then Ben used Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23 and John 3:16 to share the gospel...Natalie complemented it with conversation based on Luke 4:41...how the demons believed Jesus...and what does it mean to believe in Jesus? Barbara and other residents had good insights into what was shared....

"For God is the King of all the earth, sing to him a psalm of praise." Ps 47:7 .... Ben shared this before we got to sing the awesome hymns....a good reminder of who we were singing to this morning!

Thank you to Ben, Colleen, Michelle P., Sean, Natalie and Michelle B. for sacrificing some of your time on a gorgeous fall morning to share Christ with the folks at Morningside....

May God bless you all like you have each blessed others!

michelle, sam and dion playing for the folks at morningside

At first Sam didn't want to go to Morningside, but when we were done playing songs and it was time for dinner for the residents....Sam and Dion were having such a good time jammin' on the piano that they didn't want to leave!
Hope we can make it a habit to come and play on Wednesdays:)

ella mae/no photos

I'm guessing the batteries died in the camera when I started to take a photo of Ella Mae and her sweet miniature poodle, Mimi. I'll try later on....
One of Ella Mae's favorite songs is "Blessed Be the Tie that Binds"....Her mother's favorite song was, "The Old Rugged Cross."
She will make you feel very welcome to Morningside when you go visit!

Oh, and it turns out that no photos of residents are supposed to be taken, so I needed to delete the awesome photos that I did take:(

Former Cary High School student, Polly!

Polly enjoyed playing basketball, handball and baseball with the guys when she attended Cary...

She loves the verses in the bible, "Love one another as I have loved you" and "Do to others what you would have them do to you"...

She taught Sunday school and enjoys the hymn, "In the Garden"..

She looks forward to those times of the year when she gets together with family. I'm sure she adds sunshine when she goes:)

Evelyn from Albermarle!

It was great to chat with Evelyn today....she spoke of her good life spent in Albermarle.
Her husband, Bob, was a great father and a good husband...
One of her favorite hymns is Old Rugged Cross...awesome song....
We have a new camera and I kinda don't know what I'm doing with it...that's why the lighting isn't good in this photo...it's hard to see Evelyn's gracious smile....

Ree and her kind smile

Today during a Wednesday visit to Morningside, Ree helped me know how to get around a little bit since it was the first time I ventured someplace besides where we do the hymns and bible study.
Ree loves her job at Morningside! How many people can say that? She is known there for her friendly smile and helpfulness....ever since she was young she's loved working around folks who were older... She loves reading...wonder what she's reading these days?

Our second visit!

Ruth, always ready to testify to God's goodness and grace!

Faison and Tommy chatting after the study...

`
Another day of blessing at Morningside!

Hymns were the main course of the day as Ben R played on the piano and Thomas played the djembi...a great combination...

Then Ben used the hymn, "Amazing Grace" as a basis for conversation on God's awesome grace. Tommy W. shared cool thoughts that God's been teaching him and it was great to see Jennifer, the joyful one, there again...

were planning on attending the Titus 2 bible study next Sat. instead of coming to this ministry, ....but this time at Morningside seems to be addicting...

our first visit

We didn't get photos our first visit to Morningside, but it was a blessing as Andrew played hymns on guitar as everyone else sang along...then Colleen led an encouraging conversation on John 3:16...Ben N. shared some cool thoughts, too.

Hymns are something that recently we've learned to love...reason enough we look forward to coming back because the folks at Morningside love them, too!

It was great to go to Cook Out afterwards with Jennifer C, Michelle P and Colleen...

Thank you, guys, for sharing what a blessing it has been for you all to be involved with this ministry...

blogging about Grace at Morningside!

(photo originally uploaded by fifteenholes @ flickr.com)

Wow!! There have been a bunch of folks from Grace at NCSU that have been faithfully visiting Morningside Assisted Living for about the past year and a half. Michelle and I stumbled onto this major blessing for serving just last week.

Thank you, Jordan, for letting folks know about this a few weeks ago at church....serving at a nursing home has been on Michelle's heart for a while, so the timing was perfect...

We wanted to share some of the encouragement we received while there with you via this blog...so hold on for a cool ride!
